OFFLINE: Tracing the Source

OFFLINE: Tracing the Source grew from my experiments with MidJourney and the development of the Ancestor Index®, a series of portraits of Black women created in honor of the Great Migration. As the work evolved, those images began to merge with my ceramic forms and with research into my matrilineal line, which I traced back to the grasslands of Cameroon.

The exhibition moved between handmade and digital processes, with clay, drawing, hand-cut paper, print, and generative imagery continually informing one another. Curated by Anika Hobbs in collaboration with Pyramid Atlantic Art Center, OFFLINE brought these materials and processes together as an ongoing exploration of ancestry, translation, and making across mediums.
